Jane was born and raised in a small town in Minnesota, in the USA, but ended up in the UK, where she’s lived most of her adult life. She lives in Brighton, near the sea, and has two grown up children.

Jane’s first novel, the young adult thriller, At Yellow Lake, was set in her native Minnesota, and was featured in The Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) anthology, Undiscovered Voices. Winning UV led to publication, and At Yellow Lake was nominated for the Carnegie, long-listed for the Branford Boase Award (for debut children’s books) and longlisted for the Waterstones Prize.

Her second novel for younger readers, the gothic ghost story The Crowham Martyrs, was shortlisted for both the Leeds and Essex book prizes, as well as being longlisted by Waterstones.

Her first adult book, the psychological thriller The Perfect Couple, is published by Lume/Joffe books.

Besides writing, Jane has worked as a teacher for many years, and has also given workshops and readings at schools, colleges and literary festivals.

Jane is a member of the Crime Writers’ Association and the Society of Authors.
